Navy Bean & Ham Soup

To make this soup, dry navy beans are cooked long and slow in water until tender, along with chopped onion, diced ham and ham flavoring.
 

Ingredients

  • 3 cups dry Navy beans, rinsed
  • 5 cups water
  • 8 ounces diced ham
  • 3 teaspoon Ham flavoring
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Method

Put all ingredients in medium pot. Bring to boil, lower heat and simmer until beans are tender.

 

Notes: Beans can be soaked overnight for a shorter cooking time.
