Chili Sundaes

A selection of condiments topping this hearty chili give it the appearance of an ice cream sundae--right down to the cherry (tomato!) on top.
Ingredients
- Chili:
- 1 large onion, minced
- 6 cloves garlic, crushed through press
- 1 lb. hamburger, 85% lean
- 2 fresh tomatoes, diced
- 1 14.5 oz can tomato sauce
- 1 tsp garlic salt
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small pinch crushed red pepper flakes, optional
- Condiments:
- 2 cups mild cheddar cheese, grated
- 2 cups sour cream
- 2 cups cherry tomatoes, halved
- 2 cups avocado, diced
- 2 cups diced fresh green pepper
- 1/2 cup minced white onion
- 1/2 cup minced green onion

Method
In 10 inch pot, cook onion and garlic until translucent. Add hamburger and cook until browned. Add tomatoes, tomato sauce and seasonings. Bring to a simmer and cook until tomatoes are cooked. Serve in individual bowls and top with condiments in the order listed. Finish with a cherry tomato on top of each sundae.
Notes: A tasty and fun dish that's a favorite with the family and makes a good dish to serve at family style dinner parties.
